Ebay Greed, fight back

Hi.I have been an ebayer for 3 years now & its becoming to expensive what with ebay & paypal fees. I remember the days of traditional High Street Auctions when you just payed commision but even they got greedy in the end. Well greed has a habbit of biting back. I joined a greed free Auction site called TAZBAR.com yesterday & its not costing me a penny to advertise & its selling fees are pocket change compared to Ebay. Its smiles allround for the seller & buyer as reuced costs should mean reduced items. I will now only use Ebay on cheap listing days. So please help fight back those greed mongers.

i dont think the issue of ebay being expensive is much to worry about, the amount of people getting ripped off on ebay is the real worry,. and even more this holiday season,.
im not knocking the poll,. i agree, they are overpricing, ebay need to tighten things up instead of flooding their pockets,.0 -
Totally agree about people getting ripped off - sellers and buyers.0

Wage this month £5400 -
Wow, that site has some of the worst grammar I've seen for a while! Sample:However, everyone else can see the items, but can't, at that point, buy them.
This gem comes in the middle of a completely incomprehensible section about 'sealed bids'. I am familiar with the concept of sealed bids, but I would be very surprised if anyone who started from scratch with this explanation would have any clue what it was all about! For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

I DID THINK THAT MYSELF BUT IF EBAY HAS SOME COMPETITION THEN IT MAY START REDUCING THEIRS. I AM TAKING FULL ADVANTAGE OF ITS FREE ADVERTISING FOR NOW AS THERES NOTHING TO LOOSE.0 -
what protection do you get from the site though ..If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
Mortgage - £2,000

To be honest I dont think Tazbar offer any come back at the moment but in 3 years with Ebay I have only ever managed to claim back sellers fees.At least if some one dosnt pay for an item on Tazbar you havent payed any listing fees & the selling fees are tiny so there wont be much loss in that respect but I think once Tazbar are streamline they may start offering a guarantee.Ebay havnt always given the guarantee they offer today. If your a buyer then maybe best use paypal with your credit card.roswell wrote:what protection do you get from the site though ..0 -
Whilst I don't ike to pay fees there is a distinct advantage in a paying site which is possibly something which sites like ebid and other new small auction sites haven't thought through. Free listings attrcat rubbish, once a site gets a reputation for selling junk it can't survive.
At least if you pay to list it makes you think very carefully about whether or not you have a saleable item, if you think you are trying to sell junk you tend not to bother. Therefore when you look at completed listings on ebay in the sort of categories I list in the majority of items sell.
Just ask any regular seller how they treat the ebay 'cheap' days and you'll get another good view of why free listings are possibly a bad idea. Like a lot of other sellers I won't list my decent stuff on a cheap day as it gets buried it the tat, I leave those days for the cupboard load of stuff that I can barely give away and just keep relisting them every time it is cheap enough.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ebay do not over charge. Overcharging is when the company charges more than people are willing to pay, therefore not making profit. Ebay are not therefore overcharging, they are charging more than you want to pay, but million of users out there pay it (me included) as the profit they make, once the fees are accounted for is still substantial.
I do put things on free listing days, but if i no i have alot of higher value stuff, and don't want to get it lost in the junk thrown in on cheap days i will leave it and put them in later.0 -
I totally agree that Ebay has gotten greedy. I've been selling there for around 2 years now and it's getting awfull. Also they do not take care of their customers, if a problem happens, it takes them FOREVER to investigate and even then they can't help you!!!!
Thanks for the link to tazbar! I'll definatelly register there!!!!0
