How does bankrupcy affect maintainance payments?

My friend's ex has recently become bankrupt and has missed two maintainance payments. He is a barrister and blames slow payment within the legal system for his current position. He says he will pay what he can as and when his fees 'dribble' through, though I am curious as to what bank account he will be paying them into. How does the law stand with regard to his maintainance payments to her?

Well i think he is now an ex Barrister.
Isn't this one of the professions that you are not allowed to be if you are made BR.
I may be wrong but don't think so.
Maybe he is just trying it on.
I have never heard of a poor Barrister, unless he is rubbish, lol.0 -
Apparently he's a leader in the field according to the legal directory!:rotfl:0

I do not think CSA payments come under BR..0

The CSA payments certainly should be allowed by his OR and if he is still earning then there should be no problems with paying the money. Maybe he has lost his job due to BR though and hasn't the money, in which case the CSA needs to know.
The best thing for your friend to do is get onto the CSA about the payments, they are the ones collecting the money and passing it on. A friend of mine recently had a missed payment, she contacted the CSA who sent the bailiffs round to her ex to collect the money in cash! When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I've just had a quick trawl through the BR restrictions...so unless he represents the Renewable Fuels Authority [don't ask me why or what]....it doesn't seem BR will affect his work position.
However, should he..through his work, be a trustee for example, that would need addressing...No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
If he continues not to pay, you could contact his OR, Whilst the OR cant make him pay her, the OR will have mada an allowance in his SOA to do so and would have some serious questions to ask hime if he is not. Thats assuming as the others have said that he is still earningHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
