Unconfirmed buyer

Hi everyone,
I have a couple of buyers whose addresses are not confirmed by paypal. Both bought through ebay (one through Bin and another through anauctions). Both have 100% feedback - I think I am shipping to a work address in one case, the other appears to be residential - might be a student home for Christmas. What precautions should i take?

When you say confirm do you mean get them to verify that this is the right address to send it to or get them to confirm the address on paypal?0

I have over 600 feedback & often send to unconfirmed addresses, I have never had a problem( touch wood ). I do always send recorded. having a confirmed address just means that the credit card details are registred at that address & it also means that you wont get any come back from paypal if payment is sent from an unconfirmed address.I would check their feedback & if your still not sure check their buying history on the advanced search to see if their activity seems genuine. If your still not happy you can contact ebay & say buyer is asking to send to an unconfirmed address & I think they will give you a FVC but this may end up in neg feedback.
( check out TAZBAR.com its like Ebay but its free to advertise )0 -
Depends on the cost of what you are posting, I would not post a valuable item to an unconfirmed address when the buyer has used paypal.0

I totally agree with you. Unless you are posting to a confirmed paypal address, whatever method of posting you use is irrelevant. If you are inelligible for seller protection, and the buyer claims non-receipt (even if you have proof of delivery, to quote paypal, 'They will try and get your money back'.
In my listings, I now put that I will only take paypal payments from buyers with confrmed addresses. If I get a payment from a buyer whose address is unconfirmed, I refund it and ask for another payment method.
Also, you should know that if you are paid by paypal, you can only send the item by a trackable method. If someone wants to come and collect, it must be cash only, or cleared funds, not paypal.
Regrettably, there are too many people out there waiting to con innocent people. There are also a lot of good people as well.0 -
I have just learnt a very costly lesson in posting valuable items to an unconfirmed address. Paypal payment showed as being paid, 3 days later I receive an e mail from Paypal saying the payment may be fraudulent. I lost £185, Paypals advice.... go to the police
Asked Paypal why they allow people to buy without a confirmed address, still awaiting my reply, 3 days now and counting.0 -
It will be ok as long as the seller has protection or something.
I sold a DVD to someone a couple of weeks ago (only about £5) and I emailed them twice asking for them to confirm the address, had no reply so just sent the item out eventually... hopefully if anything goes wrong I have proof that I tried to contact the buyer. Does anyone know if this will make a difference?
Anyway, no problems as yet so hope it is ok.0
