I have the above, as a second laptop. It has a charging problem, and only holds charge for about 5 minutes. During this time, I am unable to move the cursor. As soon as I unplug it, I regain cursor control again, but only have approx 5 minutes power.
The Toshiba recommended repair company want £165 +vat to repair it, and to be honest, it's not worth my spending that money on it.
Therefore any advice on what to do, or a reputable repair company, would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance

Is the charger a genuine Toshiba one or a replacement? My bet is its one of those horrific £7 Ebay jobs from China. I've had a few in where when you plug them into the laptop the trackpad stops working. Unplug them and the trackpad works. If you've got a radio that receives Medium Wave or AM radio, you'd probably find that with the charger turned on you'd hear a loud buzz on the radio on the entire MW band. These things also kill batteries.
You can test this really easily by taking the laptop to a shop and asking them to check the charging. Get them to use one of their chargers. If you plug it in and the trackpad still works, its that cheapo aftermarket charger. Sadly it may have killed the battery but with the laptop not even working with the charger plugged in when the battery is removed, I'd say you may have a chance.0 -
