Lowcost Holidays.com

My daughter and family has booked a holiday with these and has been told a week before departure that the hotel has overbooked and they've been moved to another hotel. She feels the hotel is unsuitable and doesn't wish to stay there.
The problem she is having is that she and now we cannot get through to LCH. We are put on hold and then cut off time and time again. Her email was answered with " your booking ref doesn't exist" !
What should she do?

I have been on holiday with Low Cost Holidays many times and found them very helpful but thats frustrating for you. Did you pay by Visa if so the bank should help you because unless you agree to the change of hotel their in breach of contract. Unfortunately if you paid by debit card you are struggling.

If you really can't get them on the phone, then its likely going to have to be a letter by recorded delivery to their registered office. That at least prevents them arguing the toss later about it being up to you to tell them their alternative arrangements weren't acceptable.
  • I'm having the same problem. we fly on the 5th of June ant they e-mailed us yesterday saying they have had to change our hotel due to overbooking. The place they are trying to put us in is atrocious! and works out 80pp cheaper (there is a party of 4 going) than what we have paid. They've offered us £40 in total compensation. My maths isnt that good, but it certainly isn't that bad! The reason I booked that specific hotel with them in the 1st place is because my father is disabled and it caters for all his needs. I've been in contact with low cost holidays this morning posing as a new customer, and they said there is good availiability at the hotel we originally booked for!!!! My advice is the original e-mail that you have received from low cost holidays QC overseas informing you of the overbooking must be replied to before anything else can be done. It has taken me 38 minutes on a 10p per minute line just to find this out.

    hope you get it sorted.
