Problems with my Mazda / SG Petch
I bought a brand new Mazda 2 Takuya 1.3 on 1st March from SG Petch. It's currently back at the garage for the third time, it's having rear shock absorbers fitted (which were apparently forgotton when it was assembled).
There's also an issue with the engine (so I believe), it's cutting out, not to the point it stalls, but the power is not continueous when I'm driving, especially between 40mph-55mph. Last time then checked this they said it was fine and the engone was perfect for a 1.3 car, though they had only had it on the diagnostics kits and not actually driven it! I was advised to bring it back (today, which was a month after it was taken back).
I dropped it off this morning and has that they fit the shock absorbers and also check the engine.. again, but drive it this time.
I'm actually quite p'd off. Last time I collected it they spoke to me like I was a 5 year old who had never driven a car before (I'm 26 and have been driving for 9 years, and have driven a variety of cars with different engine sizes) and told me the engine was fine.
A couple of questions -
Could a lack of shock absorbers have caused a problem?
What do YOU think the engine problem could be? ( I am not a mechanic and can only explain it to them in idiot terms)
Is it worth writing a letter of complaint to Mazda? as I would thought the would have had tests so bits are not 'forgotten'?
It's got to the point where I hate driving the car and don't feel safe.
Cheers for any help in advance.

Hmmmmmmmmm..........
No offence, but you clearly know little of cars.
All offence to these clowns who've fobbed you off with nonsense excuses though!!!! What a bunch of to55ers!
Firstly, if you had no shocks fitted you'd really know about it. The ride would feel very harsh/bouncy and the car would have excessive body roll in corners. I don't buy it when they say they were not fitted. More likely defective....
As for testing the engine fault, that's standard dealership incompetence, they give some numpty a laptop and say "hey congratulations, your a qualified mechanic now".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I know nothing about cars, other than how to drive. I'm a girl after all :-)
Seriously thats what they have said - a mistake during assembly and there are no rear shock absorbers. They have apparently order them in and they are fitting them today. The car was making a loud banging noise at the rear.
I'm so annoyed. I get the feeling the think I'm imagining the engine problem because theres no engine management light on. Little do they know I will not be fobbed off!Fantastic Expectations Amazing Revelations0 -
Perfectly possible they are telling the truth about the rear shocks.
As regards the engine, some new cars can have tighter engines than others.
Have you done many miles?
More importantly, have you given it a bit of exercise - plenty of gear changes, up and down the rev range?
I'm familiar with your area - a couple of brisk trips up Weardale to Alston and back might work wonders.0 -
A car that had no shocks fitted on the rear is purely ridiculous and even more worrying that it wasn't picked up on quality control at the manufactering plant.
I'd write a formal letter to the dealer principal and CC it to Mazda UK, expressing your dissatisfaction and explaining your situation. I'd also detail how you'd want it to be rectified.0
