Hello.
I been a bit crap with my money recently, got myself £1336 overdrawn on my HSBC account which HSBC are demanding to be paid back fully by the end of January. According to my calculations £760 of this debt is in charges from the bank for bounced direct debits, cheques etc. This got my thinking that instead of paying off my overdaft in full could I use the unfair charges scheme to reduce the amount I owe?
Or should I just pay it off and reclaim charges later?
thanks for any help
Andy

hi , i'm in process of reclaiming charges . although i stopped using my account in aug they are still adding charges on . i currently have loan with them and have made no payments since all this started. i just explained that because of all he charges i am not in a position to pay anything back and why should i pay money into my account just to be swallowed up by charges.i have opened new account to pay direct debits from and they can wait for their money.
just start process any way and see wat happens good luck x

Send a letter to the bank telling them that the money is in dispute by sending them a letter asking for your charges back. Also ring the bank/ visit the branch and explain that your account is in dispute and your taking action to rectify it. This then means the bank cannot take any money off you whilst the account is in dispute.0
