I am likely to be building a new games machine soon!
Is it worth considering SLI graphics cards? Or should I spend my money on a single more powerful card?
Are many games SLI supported?
Thanx

imo -buy the best single card you can get now, and then the SLI route is a possible upgrade path in the future. Less heat from one GPU as well.matched betting: £879.63

yup id agree, if you can get it the 8800 gtx is a good card im running one and have no problems with it.
other than that sometimes 2 lower end cards in sli can beat some of the mid / higher end cards but id do what piggeh suggested thats what im planning on doing

The 8800GTX is the only way to go, if you have money to burn.
Personally, I've got a 7900GT, which is fast enough to play things like CS:Source and BF2 at max resolutions without GFX-Lag.
7900GT/GTX value for money (Still relatively expensive though), or a 8800GTX if you've got deep pockets.
Single card though. SLI is old hat now0 -
A 7900GS or X1950 pro will play most things today and are still below 150 quid. The cheaper cards can cost below 130 quid!!
Most 7900GS seem to be good overclockers too!
I would personally get one of these cards now and then buy a good DirectX10 card after MS Vista has come out.In the next couple of months ATI willo release their DirectX10 card too and this will mean prices should drop!0
