I hope this is the right forum section for this enquiry.
'Package' is probably the wrong word.
Could I trouble you for recommendations for the best value deals on the above? I've various individual components on Amazon and it looks as if a reasonable combination can be obtaied for about £1500.
So I'm really looking for opinions from people who have perhaps purchased recently and are pleased with their investment.

yes, start on AV forums. But one simple piece of advice is - if you want good quality - go for a proper AV receiver and speaker package - don't get one of these AV/Blu-Ray players.
Onkyo do a cracking AV and speaker package that's at a great budget price of around £300.
Blu-ray players are cheap and 3D tv's are coming down in price all the time.
If you want to speak to the experts - Richer Sounds are always good for doling out the advice without pushing a sale (but i've bought most of my setup from them anyway).
One last consideration - John Lewis do 5 year warranty on TV's and price match0 -
If you can wait and save up you may not need the glasses http://www.computerandvideogames.com/303100/news/52-inch-glasses-free-3d-tv-goes-on-sale-in-japan/one of the famous 50

Might be cheaper to buy separately?
Currys currently has a Samsung 46" LCD 3D for £699, then buy the bluray & surround sound part separately - this would surely only come in at about £1,100?
Alternatively John Lewis currently has a 40" LED 3D for £899 with "free" bluray player, then would need to by the surround sound separately. This would be £1,199 if bought with markalanious' speaker system.
If you did either of those then you could get the AV/Speaker package that markalanious mentions above?
I don't have a Samsung 3D but I have a 42" HD of theirs and it's been fantastic."We can all fly as high as the dreams we dare to live...........unless we are a chicken" ~ Anon.0 -
I recently grabbed a 3DTV Samsung PS50C680G5 for £728 (from Amazon) (£699 now)
Curry sell the same model but not the G5 variant (which has freeview HD) for £799.
I spent an eternity researching but could not find a single reveiw for any TV which were all positive. They all have negatives.
I don't see ANY Image Retention which was my biggest concern looking at reviews.
The 3D is great, the 2D-3D conversion is sometimes spookily good, other times mediocre, other times non existant but a nice gimmick anyway.
I plug it into a Samsung Cinema setup I had already (cost about £300ish IIRC) so by no means top of the line but perfectly acceptable to me.
I connect the TV through Ethernet to my PC and stream movies directly from the PC via Serviio. It is a fantastic facility, all movies automatically sorted by Genre, Year, Actor etc. with all DVD Cover Art downloaded from IMDB automatically by Serviio.
Asking a forum for best one is like the Apple Mac - Windows or iPhone - Android debate. Rambles on forever.
My shortlist of 50" 3D TV's was Panasonic, Samsung or LG. I didn't even consider anything else but had no preference between the three makes.0 -
You folks are absolutely GREAT. Many thanks for all the info above.0

If you want an amazing TV, look at the Samsung D8000 range. Picture is absolutely fantastic. Prices are...shall we say, a little high, however.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
We have the PS43D490, which is a 3D upscaler. Have to admit, we bought it cos it was cheaper than the 2D version at the time and have not tried it in 3D yet, hoping the glasses will go down, but the 2D picture is absolutely fantastic.
Depends what size you are after as this is only "HD Ready", not full HD, but at 43" I don't think full HD is really needed. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Hubbie after D8000. Hopefully price will come down by Xmas as he is NOT spending that much but after looking at 3D tv's he will not settle for anything but that! To be honest though it took my breath away it was if there was no screen and the people/picture was just there with a silver frame around them!0
