if you get rid of a motor do the v5 and if you havent heard from swansea in 4 weeks write and ask why. get proof of postage (free)
why
i sold a car sent v5 off next i heard was a letter saying i hadnt done anything, rang them and was told just write on the letter they sent as all details would be on it informing who new owner was and date of sale. did that and guess what they never got it. just got a letter with a £35 fine on it £55 if not paid in 14 days then court proceedings.
call me a coward but as i had no proof i paid it, dont know who is worst dvla or royal mail for losing it.

Hovever, you do not need to prove that you sent the form off to the DVLA.
The law requires that they prove that you didn't.0 -
From BBC:
Duncan Peck is a motorcyclist who took on the DVLA - after applying to take his vehicle off the road. He posted his SORN application but then six months later he received a penalty for £80. The DVLA insisted they hadn't received Duncan's application and told him it was his responsibility to contact them when he didn't receive acknowledgement of receipt. Duncan refused to back down and refused to pay the fine, so the DVLA took him to court. When the case was heard in March, the judge found in Duncan's favour saying the DVLA has no statutory power requiring anyone to contact them should they not receive an acknowledgment letter
So if you go to Court precedent has been set and you would [probably win - DVLA, a law unto themselves.0 -
^^ And P Wooley, probably lives in a house fortified with 30 foot high concrete walls, barbed wire fences and guard dogs on patrol 24/7.... If not, then she's got a death wish.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
