Bit miffed with Virgin

We have VM for TV bband and phone and over the last few days we've been getting 0845 calls and due to the wonders of call display have ignored them.
Dh (in his wisdom) decided to answer a call yesterday and it was from Virgin, obviously an overseas call centre, and the chap asked was he Mr X X and DH said yes. He then asked to speak to me (the account holder). When DH said I was at work, he said when will she be back. DH said no idea. Virgin man then proceeded to ask DH does he know MY password on the account then he could speak to him regarding some money saving he could do for us.
Surely this is wrong, as the conversation should have started with is Mrs X X in and when DH said no that should have ended the call. To ask does DH know my password, so even if he did they can continue to sell is quite frankly disturbing.
I hope this was a one off!

Well maybe he thought your OH was listed on the account as being 1 to talk to about stuff eg when stuff goes wrong eg i can talk to the rep if theres an issue as im listed on the account even though the account isnt in my name, just an idea,
otherwise no he shouldnt have asked if he knew the password0 -
I am the only one listed as a contact so he shouldn't have asked did DH know my password. (I can't even remember it)
Thanks for your replySusie"A woman is like a tea bag:you never know how strong she isuntil she gets in hot water."0 -

like i say it was a theory, no he shouldnt have asked for the password like that, ive yet to receive any calls from VM about saving money, if it happens again maybe bring it to they're attention0 -
Virgin will discuss your account with anyone that has your account password, I'm the only named account holder and my oh decided to downgrade the tv package when she was on one of her money saving drives, the only problem was I was on a very good package when she moved in, after the downgrade and all my previous discounts were taken off (as they saw it as a new contract for some reason) we ended up saving £1.50 a month.. Virgin refused to allow me back on my original package after I found out it had been downgraded and didn't see a problem with allowing someone else to change my package as I had given them the password.0
