16 yo with mental health issues

My 16 yr old daughter (17 yrs in aug) left school in 2010 and was receiving councelling for mental health issues while at school. In Dec 2010 she started a NVQ apprenticeship training which she received £10 a week ema. However since April she has been struggling with illness, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts and been off quite a bit of time. Today she has been into college and the tutors have advised her suspending her course until she feels better as they feel this will be in her best interest.
If she suspends the course (on long term leave) am i right in thinking I will not be able to claim CB & CTC. Would there be any benefits she would be able to claim?
thanks in advance.

I think as the break is temporary (hopefully) and due to illness you'll be able to claim CB for upto 6 months while she's on her break.
You'll need to contact tax credits and the dwp to confirm what you need to do.

She may be able to claim ESA but this will depend on your entitlement to CB/CTC, as they are both paid for the same reason, they cannot both be in payment at the same time.0

correct. I would phone up CB/CTC and explain the situation, they may be able to offer you more advice and help. She may be able to claim ESA but this will depend on your entitlement to CB/CTC, as they are both paid for the same reason, they cannot both be in payment at the same time.life is what you make it, make it fun !0
