Toyota Yaris - Tyre pressure & radiator water!!

Options
Hello All,

I'm a new driver (passed 1+ month ago) and I have got a toyota yaris 1.0 VVTi. The car was serviced (About a month ago). I need to make a motorway travel for the very first time tomorrow. Driving the car about 120+ (To & Fro) miles tomorrow.

I'm preparing myself a checklist for the road trip.

1. Driving license - check
2. Road Tax, Car Registration Documents - check
3. Car Insurance & Policy details - check
4. AA Breakdown Cover & Phone number - check
5. Mobile Phones all charged in case of emergency call - check
6. Petrol tank - Full - check
7. Cleaning sponge, anti-freeze, ice remover - all check
8. Hand/Foot Breaks, Indicators & all lights, windscreen wiper - all check
9. Oil Levels - check
10. Directions Map (To & Fro) - check
11. Tyre pressure - ??? How to check?
12. Engine coolant/radiator water levels - ??? How to check?

I dont have toyota yaris manual, so I would like to know, how to check the tyre pressure and how to much front and rear tyre pressure should be.

Also I don't know, where I should look for water levels on radiator?

Is there any online manual for toyota yaris maintenance? I went to halfords to look for haynes manual but the manual costs £17.99 (That's very expensive). Any other alternative? any suggestions please?

With the knowledge that you have on cars £17.99 looks a good investment.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    Haynes manual Ebay.

Tyre pressure - go to a petrol station and use a free air compressor. The older type have a pressure gauge in them, the newer typre have a digital pressure input and beep when at the correct pressure. They normally have a tyre pressure chart by model.

Coolant check - there will be a water header tank. Plastic bottle with screw cap on it. Normally have a water level line on the side of them too, labelled "min". Just make sure the water level is above the min. Don't fill it to the brim.
    Happy chappy

Or Cold or Kalt (probably not made in Germany though I guess)
  • Good luck on your trip. Sorry I am too late to advise you, but I think its 30 ish all round.
Great car - now I know mine (no oil or water consumption) all I check is the windscreen water bottle, which is enormous.
    Nice to save.
  • I would advise you to get a handbook for your car, your dealer can supply one or maybe you can find one on ebay. These handbooks contain all the basic info that you require to check anything on your car that needs checking.

While a haynes manual is handy, they are more necessary when doing mechanical jobs, which given your present knowledge, you probably wont need yet.
:) There are two sides to every story.
