Veerrryyy interesting .... I know that when friends of mine went to Warsaw 30 years ago or so, it was terribly exotic - hand-knotted carpets, the whole bit. St Wenceslas! And, on a much more sombre note, the Warsaw ghetto....

I've met a lot of Poles in the course of my work over the years, and I have a theory that, apart from its geographical position at a crossroads, whereas we're at the edge, Poland is very like England in character: hardworking, a bit mad, very independent, very proud, old school conservatism and creativity all mushed up together. It'll be fascinating!

  • I'll let you know if and when it happens (March?)

So far I've been rubbish at my November £10/day challenge - but I'm not giving up!

  • Well, it has been a bit of a tight month and I've not posted very much (though I have been lurking :) )

    Money Positives:
    - Looks like I'll have some money left at the end of the month
    - £10 apology from Barclaycard for accidentally charging me 1p interest :)
    - Looks like £25 coming in from quidco; Although I'm not a gambler, this was an Extrabet deal which I could still win :) Not banking on it though.
    - Managed to get my bank account details validated so that I can move £26 out of a savings account
    - Found that a couple of my PS1 games are worth ~£20 each, so they can go on ebay

    Money Negatives:
    - Accidently picked up an account 'review' charge of £25 on A+L account; I need to get this refunded.
    - Forgot to pay November council tax - doh!
    - November £10/day challenge just didn't happen for me. I just had an imagination failure

My mum got made redundant this week, but is taking it well.

We've managed to get all of the nursery things ready I think thanks to lots of generous relatives - lots of thanks to everyone... Just waiting now...

sorry about your Mum's job, but the rest of the post seems pretty good!

    Getting excited about the baby?

  • I'm still over-excited...

I think my mum'll be OK - she has the 'luck of the Irish' as she managed to sell her house at the peak and also bought a little rural house in Italy way back when they were still cheap. Debt free and mortgage free - but she did get her pension stolen a few years back, so that's why she wanted to keep earning.

Sounds like things are going well in the hypno household!

    Hey gtd

A rural house in Italy ... I like the sound of that. And pitter pattering going on soon. But - how on earth did you forget to pay your council tax? You mean you don't have it set up on a DD? Aargh!

  • Hey KC! Sounds like you're getting stuck into your spread-betting - good luck!

I hate DD's - usually end in bank charges somewhere along the line for me. Strangely haven't been chased by the council yet - and I need to pay December's too - tight month, tight month... will get better though :)

The Italy place is being 're-modelled' at the moment but I have no idea what it looks like as my mum's not very good at taking pictures. We hope to get over there sometime next year.
