Morning all. Quite a busy day for me:
    • [STRIKE] Check banking[/STRIKE] - all good
    • [STRIKE]Search for cheap hotel and train tickets to Birmingham [/STRIKE] - 40th party of friend (I would say close but we're not, we've stayed in touch for years though and I haven't seen them since my wedding two years ago!)
    • [STRIKE]Breakfast at home[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Bring lunch in for work[/STRIKE]
    • LSD
    • Dinner from stores
    • [STRIKE]Check prices for travelcard and decide on cheapest option[/STRIKE] - Took annual card, cheapest and we get gold card discounts. OH can use it when I cycle to work as it's cheaper for him to use prepay but we can save a few £ this way.
    • Sort out some items for ebay
    • Start meal plan for next week (We're staying with family Friday - Sunday, would like to meal plan so we have a plan of attack for the supermarket when we get back).
    • Tidy flat to stop it getting into a state again - may investigate the flylady thread
Debt at lightbulb moment (18 Aug 2009) 30933.95,
    Debt 1 July 2011 £9663.71

    Hi guys

Only just had my lightbulb moment so its time to get into action and get going so hope to become a regular here.

    Today I will:
    • Move my car twice to use free parking spaces instead of paying to park - hoping not to get caught in the rain
    • Have a beef stir fry for tea from my menu plan using reduced price beef and veg
    • Check banking to make sure I have been refunded after payment was taken twice.
    • Phone my gas company to see if they will reduce my monthly payments as they keep have to refund me when I get my bills.

Major respect on leaving the job, rock cakes!! Life's too short to work someplace that makes you so miserable.

Thanks, I think I must be mad and to be honest I am feeling a bit queasy about leaving this job without having another one lined up. I am sure that everything will sort itself out.

Welcome to Sparkerly, I’m sure you find some useful tips and friendly support over here.

Oh Timbstoke, you lucky thing. I hope you manage to get some time to have some fun over there!

    xx

    Hello everyone!

Wow the thread is busy today, great to see :)

So I have a question for you all - a friend of mine from college who now lives in Sunderland is getting married in August, in Sunderland. Her hen do is next month. I have worked out I can JUST about afford to do both without slipping into my overdraft again, assuming the quotations I have got for my car insurance due in August are correct...however if there are any unexpected bills, or the planned activities work out to be more then I thought they would I am back into that trap...what should I do? Should I take the risk & do both or play it safe & just go to the wedding & not the hen do?

    Today I have/will:-
    • [STRIKE]Heating off[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Food from stores[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Check ebay[/STRIKE] Another bid, yay!
    • [STRIKE]Made use of free coffee/water etc at work[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Charge phone via pc[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Log calories on free app[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Log any expenditure on free app[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Stay in at lunch to avoid the shops (& rain :rotfl:)[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Check for surveys[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Enter comps[/STRIKE]
    • Check out freebies/comp boards
    • [STRIKE]Dinner from meal plan[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Check emails & online banking[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Read Miss Minimalist some more[/STRIKE]
    • Make a start on decluttering
    • [STRIKE]Get at least 1 item ready for listing on ebay[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Washing on eco setting[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Hang up to dry[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Get home insurance quotes to ensure we get the best deal[/STRIKE] Sorted, & for half the cost of our renewal quote :j
    • Look into cheapest travel/accommodation options for friend's wedding - Made a start
Was hoping to go for a run but I don't think we'll be going if this weather keeps up, hence giving myself a mammoth list! Also need to clean, clean, clean, in preparation for the parentals coming over at the weekend - if the house isn't spotless I get a lecture that lasts for weeks *rolls eyes* Might have to give the flylady thread a go too, but last time I took a look it seemed like way too much hard work :o

Have a great, MSE day everyone x

Welcome to all the new faces :)

Rock_cakes - You're so brave, I will be keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out very soon!
Wannabe - Glad everything went ok at your midwife appointment
NewlyFrugalMumof3 - I'm sure your SIL won't think it's cheap, & if she does she's not worth worrying about anyway ;) The gift sounds lovely, esp for someone who is on a budget!
Timbstoke - I am soooo jealous! Have a fantastic time & be sure to come back & tell us all about it - I have always wanted to go to Australia!
Josie - You have such wonderful friends! Wish mine did that :p
NTBY - Glad to see you're putting yourself into your work & enjoying it! Hope Mr Man is being patient & not trying to force an answer out of you, if he's serious he'll be prepared to wait. Have a fun evening with your friend
Catmiaow & Pixie - Stop rubbing it in :p
