Astroturf

I have a 2sqmx3sqm roof terrace which was recently refinished in asphalt. I need to cover it to protect it from the sun Iit's very exposed) and was thinking about astroturf instead of decking. Does anyone have any advice about astroturf? The roof has a slight incline to allow rainwater to drain off but I'm wondering if under the astroturf the surface will get mossy and mouldy. Or maybe any other suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

I think I'd be concerned about using it on a roof terrace myself.
To keep it in place you normally have to load it with sand which is brushed into it. That must add weight to the roof and retain moisture.0 -

I won't need to use any sand as I have plant pots all around the edges and table and chairs etc in the middle to keep it from moving and flying off. So hopefully that will keep it lightweight. Thanks for your reply.0 -
I think that moss would need sunlight to survive and therefore there would be unlikely to be any under the Astroturf. We use it around the green of my bowling club. Can't say that we have ever had a problem with it. Apart from where a fox damaged a bit of it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Don't worry about the weight - you can get synthetic turf either dressed with sand or without, either way a 6sqm won't be a problem. Synthetic turf looks great and installation on a roof is easy so go for it!0
