Forgot to cancel car insurance

I moved to the states 8 months ago.....I have just realised there is a direct debit still running,to tesco for insurance on a car I sold before I left. I thought my husband had cancelled it! Is there anything I can do????

    Don't rely on phoning to cancel, also write and confirm your cancellation of the policy (use a signed for delivery service).

    Be prepared for cancellation charges.

    If you mean is there anything you get do to get back the 8 months of payments - the answer is no.
