Tricky Situation

I was made redundant a few months ago and have been chasing my tail ever since. Just been hit with another unexpected bill for more than I can afford.

Situation is I have two bank accounts, both maxed out overdrafts to the tune of 400 pounds between them, and a 100+ phone bill coming off soon which is going to throw me into charge city.

I need a 0% credit card to pay this off and manage it, and I was looking at the M&S one but it will need proof of income apparently, meaning I won't get it.

Now, I have two credit cards from a while back, never used them, just had them for emergencies (I've only ever spent my own physical money) - an Abbey Zero and a Virgin Credit Card. The problem is, they've both gone back up their normal rates over time, so there's no point in using them to manage this debt I have.

I only need to get £500 on credit at 0% to manage things, so is there any way I can use my status as a customer with these companies to apply for another card from them at a zero % rate, or is there any chance M&S would accept me?

Any other ideas of what I can do? I've cancelled unnecessary DD's and I'm about to flog a few items on eBay to get back into the black.

Any ideas appreciated, thanks.

If you are unemployed then there is no chance you'll get a new 0% card.

Possibly you could ask virgin or zero if they will give you a new 0% deal (they sometimes do this for existing customers).

But if you are unemployed you are probably going to be struggle to meet the repayments soon no matter how your debt is structured. You might want to seek some advice from one of the debt charities.

thanks for that, i'll think about asking abbey to renew the offer.

i know nothing of these debt charities but i don't feel like i am in serious need of something like that yet. somebody owes me 70 quid and my electricity company owe me another 80. it's just getting things sorted quick that's the issue so i don't start getting charged left right and centre the second any bill comes off, because i know that's where the trouble starts.

looks like the best thing to do is to sell off a few pointless luxuries.
