Balance Transfer Question

in Credit cards
Hi,
I have applied for a credit card to transfer a balance from an existing card and have filled in the amount to be transferred.
Whilst I am waiting for the new card application to go through I will need to make a payment and also I am receiving a credit for a returned item I bought on it.
If successful, will the new credit card company still take the full amount requested on the application, or just the balance?
Thanks
K

They will balance transfer the amount you put on the application form.
Keep the old card opened until at least you have received the refund due.0 -
thanks,
so taking it to the extreme, even if I pay the old card in full, they would still transfer the full requested balance leaving the old card owing me?
The reason I am asking is that there has been a delay in my application for the new card and payment date for the old interest baring card is looming. Therefore to reduce the interest charged to me because of the delay in the balance tfr I want to pay off about £1500 from my bank account (the balance tfr requested to the new card is (£4100)0
