The News & Star is offering a free day’s racing for two people, plus complimentary dining from the racecourse restaurant’s special Caribbean menu, to the winner of our competition.
The pair will receive two Premier Admission Badges with free race day programme for next Monday’s afternoon meeting, offering them the best view of the action on the track.
And they will also sit down to a three-course Caribbean meal in Swifts Restaurant, followed by afternoon tea, at their table for the day, where a betting service is provided.
The food includes dishes like chicken creole, red snapper, fried yams and roasted pineapple with coconut macaroon and rum chantilly cream.
The Caribbean theme will feature live music from the Sunshine Panners Steel Band and a surf machine for spectators to try. Five hundred brightly-coloured garlands will also be handed out as people go in.
Gates open at 12 noon, with the first race off at 2.10pm.
Richard Clements, the course’s general manager, said: “We want to bring a little bit of the Caribbean to Cumbria. Our spring Bank Holiday meeting is always popular with families and we wanted to add to the fun by making it a Caribbean theme.
“There should be a great atmosphere to go with a top-class day’s racing. As always, admission is free for accompanied under-16s and we’re providing a lot of family fun and children’s entertainment to help keep the kids busy for a day.”
The free entertainment for youngsters includes bouncy castle, face-painting and Punch & Judy show. There are also children’s rides and stalls and a climbing wall.
Admission for adults costs from £11.90 if bought in advance on 0844 579 3002 or https://www.carlisle-races.co.uk.
Of course, you could always try and win two free tickets by answering this question: What is the name of the restaurant at Carlisle Racecourse?
