Afternoon all!

It's finally happened, I've decided to tackle this whole debt thing head on!

I've taken out all the parts of the SoA that didn't apply; family, pets, cars etc.

As you can see, I should technically have about £55 left at the end of every month, sitting in my bank looking awesome. I don't. Of course I don't, that's how I ended up in this situation in the first place!

I figure that this diary and the wonderful people who read it will ensure that I either figure out where all this mysterious expenditure is, or discover the secret to vanishing cash. Either way, I'm glad we're going to do this together.

Today I mailed Wescot, having finally come to my senses and stopped messing around trying to delay the inevitable. I know it's my debt, I spent many a happy day in Westfield shopping centre buynig whatever the hell I liked and charging it to Halifax.
In 2009 I sold everything I had, made 2k and vamooosed to Vancouver for 18 months. I spent all I had, and came back broke to a debt I'd ignored for about 2 years.

bad. awful. naughty.

So now I'm facing up to it and paying it off over 26 months, if not sooner.

As well as the loss of this silly self built burden, I'm trying to rid myself of another selfmade mass of mess - namely 3 stone of excess Mouldy Baggage!

the goals? DF and HOTTT by August 2013.

Now, let the micro managing begin!

(Today and yesterday I spent 0 pennies. :D)

I placed some bids on Ebay today, looking for a second hand sewing machine as I have plans!

Not only will a sewing machine enable me to make some things for myself and cheaper (awesome) gifts, but I hope to put things such as cute bags, knitting bags / needle rolls, cushion covers, tea cosies, ballet pumps... (you know... cute handmade things) onto etsy and folksy with a view to selling them and one day making a tiny wee profit alonng the way.

I've always loved crafty things, and this could be a thrifty thing of the future.

    Why thank you very much!

Yep, just this one. No more ODs or CCs for me. Mainly because I couldn't get one if I tried! My spotted credit history and the fact I've moved house over 15 times in the last 10 years is a bit of a downer on the ol' credit score! :embarasse

Very best of luck there mouldy. You might want to have a look at your discretionary purchases per month, I'm sure entertainment costs can be trimmed down with some creative thinking! ;)

Just a thought, is your mobile phone bill up for renewal? I went sim only on a contract and cut my monthly costs by half.

    yArrr, I quite agree...;)

I've got a PAYG sim - couldn't get a contract when I came back from Canada. Seriously, my credit is apalling. I try not to use it too much outside of texts, but my OH lives in a different city, and I feel awful that I need him to call me all the time! Im getting a sim card on his network so it will be free!

    Good morning!

As I lay in my bed this morning, listening to the howling wind and rain spattering against my window, I thought to myself "Oh, it's payday. Sod riding in that weather for a game of soldiers, I'll just take the bus".
Then I thought about coming on here and telling you all that I'd spent £5 on a day return rather than getting on the bike rather than doing a little hard work for free. I couldn't. So I didn't - I rode in.

A journey that usually takes me 25 minutes took 45, with much futile railing at the wind and tiny stops to catch my breath and feel despondent. Despondant? Desp- Disp- A bit blue. I swear an elderly lady on a mobility scooter laughed at me as she glided past. Damn motorized pensioners!

And as I staggered to a halt outside work, bought myself a well deserved banana. The shop lady thought it looked rubbish, so she gave it to me for 20p! I brought my breakfast and lunch to work, and I have chicken defrosting in the fridge as we speak.
Might this be the first ever <£1 payday spend?? Well, we'll find out later!

    gahhh!

no. no its not the first ever <£1 payday spend, as I just realised I have to buy my travel tickets to London today before the advance-booking price balloons up to £30.

Also the veggies I had for this weeks lunch have gone horrid, the tomatoes especially are soft as, and the cucumber smells weird. To the market!!

Sigh. Oh well, at least I didn't get the bus or buy a £4 sandwich! That's like saving a tenner... right?

I've cancelled my gym (as evident in that prrrretty ugly SOA up there), but I need to be battling THE POUNDS. I ride my bike as much as I can, but does anyone know good yoga/pilates sites for beginners?

I was going to start classes but cannot justify at least £10 a week for "being stretchy". :o

I finished off a scarf which had been lying dormant on my needles for almost a year now. It's a pretty cute scarf/shawl and I was (naturally) making it for myself, but now it's getting blocked, carefully rolled up and stored for the next lady I know who's birthday it is.

Next, to tackle the sock yarn!

It might not be profitable, but it's free to do and keeps my hands from doing pesky other things, like snacking, boozing or online shopping. :D

So far today, no spends; that might not last the whole day though, as I have v little food left in the house. A big shop is hardly a luxury though. Especially when it's a bargain big shop. TO THE COMPARITOR!

Oh I've slipped up. Kind of. Well yes, I have.

I went to the shop yesterday to just buy potatoes for a fish pie tonight and ended up spending £13 on stupid stuff. Well, rice and curry suace for tomorrow's dinner, but that cost maybe £5. That's £8 on wine, chocolate, crisps. All because I was tired and had a bad day at work and missed my OH.

This morning, looking at the stuff I bought but didn't need, I am having UTTER buyers remorse.

I went on Vicatic and have a "virtual" £4 now, but I still feel just awful and mad at myself.
