Disabled 16 year old leaving education

Could anyone answer a question for a friend of mine?

She has a son who is leaving full time education and is severely disabled and will never be able to work. She is his carer and claims carers allowance, husband works full time and the mother receives child tax credits (not working tc though earn too much) and child benefit claimed which will end when he leaves full time education.

Can the son claim any money at all in his own right? He receives higher rate mobility and care.

Thank you.

He should be able to claim ESA but the HRM and HRC DLA are actually his money, claimed in his own right.

Why is he leaving education so early?

Health reasons - he is severely disabled and needs 24 hour care and unable to attend college due to medical needs.
