For every 1 you see they are 12 more.
Only a very hungry cat will bother with rats.
Let the council man deal, they will put down bait thats rich in vitamin a, the rats take it back and share it and slowly peg it over 36 hours from Liver failure.

That's what I did in the end (or rather, the council pest control man did).

All seems to be clear now - very good news.

    Borrow a Jack Russell.

It's a tough call. Rats or a Jack Russell? A Jack Russell or rats? Which is least unlikeable?

On balance, I think it might have to be the rats!

Our cat catches rats and she's not hungry. She's just a killer!Has been since she was very tiny and we found something skinned under DD's bed. Gross but I'm glad she's killing rats. I think they're coming here because of food bins :(

Despite having a lot of compost bins & a green cone, plus feeding the birds, we don't seem to be troubled by rats (not to my knowledge, anyway). We do have a very large rescue cat who is built like the proverbial brick outhouse, so maybe his presence is keeping them away.
