Go Outdoors - 20% off tents - misleading ad

Forget the offer.
Go Outdoors offer a price match plus 10% - this method saved me 30% on a new tent.
I may have got this wrong but surely you only saved 10% as you could buy the same tent 20% cheaper somewhere else? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Offers available in store only - suggests to me that the discount voucher has to be presented in person, in a store i.e. not used on the website
Subject to availability - is reasonable, but not when the store deliberately ensures that a large proportion of the catalogue is not stocked in the first place. i.e. they are applying a qualifier to the offer by not holding stock. Headlining the offer with "20% off ALL tents" when not all the tents are available to be bought is sharp practice.
What would the response be if Tescos ran a campaign announcing all champagne for £3/bottle - "subject to availability", and then withdrew all Champagne and filled the shelves with Mexican Cava?
As has been said most smaller stores will not carry the full range of stock that they can when using online.
And your right with your first line - that does mean store only - how would you get the voucher if they didnt have it online ? Then you would get nothing off what the store had stocked.
Anyway for those who would like this great offer here are the vouchers

Really? Thanks for that, Davey!"There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
There is almost always a catch, but sometimes you can be lucky and grab a bargain. I must say gooutdoors have gone massive over the past few years so i supposed due to bulk buyin they could be able t slash prices.

i was planning to buy some fishing gear tomorrow using their 25%off voucher. i then noticed it was off the retail price, not their discount price.0

If you take a mobile phone with internet access you can price match whilst in store. Show them the screen, they will check it and as long as the item on the web is in stock they will apply the discount.0 -

other shops say subject to availability(i believe its based on supply and demand) for offers and theres nothing wrong with it, it was printed on sainsburys offer leaflets and as i worked in a sainsburys local we didnt stock all the offers in the leaflets due to being a small store, each store will no doubt have different levels of stock of the tents.
I believe your tesco example is flawed as cava is from spain only and not mexico.0 -
Are you sure they haven't just ran out? When Supply is lower then demand. It's hard to get stuff back into stock. Plus with the nicer weather and music festivals coming up. Tents are selling like crazy so a lot of people probably jumped on this offer.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.
Smoke free since Jan 2014If you want any advice on quitting please send me a PM.

We got best part of £100 off tent couple of months ago on a 20% off tents day.
Had to travel to another store to find one in stock but saving far outweighed cost of getting there.
Also used online reservation so knew they had one in stock.
They had to get it from stock room mind but did so with no quibbles.0
