changing a tyre on a ford focus - help!!
Options
just noticed a flat tyre on my ford focus. I do not have the manual for this car
there are two different kinds of bolts holding the tyre on. three have come off fine but the fourth is a strange shape and has a groove cut in to it.
can anyone point me in the right direction to get it off?

Sounds as if you have alloy wheels with a locking wheel nut on each wheel.
Have a hunt through the car glove box, boot, door pockets to see if you have the special adapter to fit these nuts. If not, you'll have to get someone to cut them off, if you're in a roadside emergency service they may be able to help.0 -
thanks ...will start raking!!

How big a nail is it?
Assuming the nail has gone through the main part of the tread, and not the sidewall, and there is ample tread left on it,they may be able to do a puncture repair for you,or alternatively, put a tube in,thus saving you the cost of a new tyre. You could then use this as a spare.
Ask their advice when you get there, but chances are they'll say the tyre is no good.
Ken.That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
They will not put a tube in it as they are not allowed to. If they cannot repair the tyre they will bin it and I would not advise you to put a tube in it yourself either.
Providing the nail is in the middle two thirds ish of the tyre and it hasn't been driven to far whilst flat it should be perfectly repairable for probably £10 or less.
Also if you can avoid the big chains such as kwik fit and ATS and try an independent tyre place as they are often cheaper with a better customer service as they rely on good word of mouth and repeat custom.
Asking around your friends and family use is often a good start.0
