Seems you are stuck with what you have now then.

Keep on at them - I wish you all the best with getting her the help she needs. These funding issues make me very cross when it involves something so important as a child's education! :mad:0 -
Rang dla this morning and have been awarded mrc and lrm for dd so really pleased as this will pay for some extra tuition for her after school and some 1 to 1 swimming lessons. I was hoping for hrc though to get help with school transport so this is still a problem. I'm unsure why she doesn't qualify for hrc as she is up late at night and i have to try and settle her off and also throughout the night and she bed wets 2-3 times a week which again i'm up in the night with her, changing sheets etc. I daren't appeal it though because it might backfire and will only hold up payments0

Middle rate sounds about right to me. We get middle rate for my DD who has severe learning difficulties. She is 10 but has the cognitive age of a 2-3 year old and needs the same amount of help as a child that age with eating, dressing, toiling, etc.
If you think about it, there is only one level higher (higher rate) and there are children and adults who are quadriplegic, have tracheotomies, need to be winch lifted, are constantly in and out of hospital. My child needs a lot of looking after, but nothing like as much as these children.
There is also a level below what you are getting for children with lesser needs, so you haven't necessarily been short changed. And to get mobility, even at the lower rate on the first time of applying is excellent. It's not impossible but really difficult to get higher rate mobility for a child with no physical impairment, and you need a lot of professional support and back up in your supporting evidence. My dd has no road sense at all, no sense of danger, and will often lie in the road or pavement if she gets frightened by loud noises eg a siren, and she still only gets lower rate mobility.0 -

Was it difficult to claim dla for DD? What evidence did you need?
Have you thought about getting her in to guides? My DD goes and loves it, she is off camping with them this weekend, then switzerland in summer hols, our only respite plus school.. Am so with you. They could be twins.

It might be worth having a read through this http://www.ncb.org.uk/cdc/Cemented_to_the_floor_by_law.pdf - might give you some ammunition.

Sorry you and your daughter are having such a rough time of it. I work in a special school but was previously in mainstream. My only bit of advice would be to keep shouting. Make yourself really unpopular at the school if needs be but unfortunately it really is only those who shout the loudest who get anywhere. If you don't feel you're getting anywhere, keep making appointments with the senco or whoever you can get to see. Hopefully at some point they'll do something for you just to keep you quiet. Sadly, school resources are very stretched and the system really doesn't work as it should but keep fighting the corner for your girl. Good luck!0
