hi all
i need some advice. im overdrawn due to my bank taking 200 off me this month, im overdrawn already (only paid 10 days ago)
i went to see my bank a few days ago to try sort out my acount, they said they couldnt and realised that it was a viscious circle that they put charges on my account each month and that im going overdrawn because of these charges being added, but thet couldnt do anything as there hands were tied.
they advised me to speak to there debt consolidation people.
half hour after i got home i recived a call from the bank saying they stopped one of my direct debits as there wasnt sufficient funds. i asked if it was possible to be put through to the debt consolidation people to sort out my account, i was told they were unavailale and would need to phone on monday
yterday i recived a letter from the bank saying they had cancelled one of my direct debits on thurs (the day i asked for help) as my account had insufficient funds and charged my 25.00, the letter was also asking for my to payin 955 ( my overdraft) into my bank or that they would take futher action against me to recover the money i owed them. and that they would cancel any direct debits and such that were to go out of my account.
on checking my statement today online i noticed that the bank had allowed my phone company to take out a direct debit which has put my account overdrawn, yet they said they wouldnt allow this if there were insuficient funds in my account.
can tehy do this? and would it be worth asking the bank to futher increasse my loan so that i have enough money to ensure i donthave to scrounge off mates and family when they take charges from my account at the end of the month?
sorry its so long winded

please don't take a loan out as experience as taught me it only makes things worse i did this for 4 years, i wasn't extravagant i had simply left a violent partner and had no other option but to live on my own i was only earning £11000 a year with a house rent of £350 and bills and so forth i struggled for years taking out a yearly loan topping up my salary for the basics i am now in excess of £22,000 of personal debt
my advice would be start a claim to reclaim the charges, change your bank! maybe get a basic account with a bank as you arent credit checked for these, there is no overdraft/cheque book facility so it is abit more of a hassle but what is in the account is yours! no credit until you get yourself sorted and back on the straight and narrow. In my opinion getting a loan will only add to your troubles...
My heart honestly goes out to you, but please do not get too stressed about it, and certainly don't lose anymore sleep - you are not on your own and with a bit of careful planning you can turn this around.
The very best of luck!0 -
that advice is golden from carrielouise i was in your position and now im in debt 21k because i took the loan route. Open a new bank account and start fresh, claim back your charges and get back on the straight and narrow. It will be hard but its worth it.0
