Vistaprint - where a deal is not a deal

Having used Vistaprint before I regularly (most days!) get a 'special offer for you only limited time order now' email.
So what am I moaning about then I hear you ask.
Here's what I did. I added my usual 1500 price lists to my basket after entering the website from the link on my latest special deal email from vistaprint that was giving me free 3 day delivery when I spent over £40.
My leaflets were £215.
Before ordering I logged out then just accessed the site direct - no special offer email link and guess what - the leaflets in my shopping cart had gone down to £179! I may very well have ended up paying the difference to get my 3 day postage but the fact remains - it is a non offer. Whatever they take off for a special offer they increase the price of something else.
I have done this before and the same has happened. I ordered some free business cards but the processing and postage charge came to the same as if I had paid for the cards with free postage. I also found that rear of card printing was dearer on the 'free' cards.
I complained to vistaprint and got a copy and paste email about offering great value etc etc. I even used skype to call them in the US but got no more of an explanation. I tried to complain to the consumer people but as vistaprint are not UK based they couldn't help and suggested European consumer people.
So remember, a special deal for you sometimes means a better deal for them!

This sort of behaviour is so standard it's not even a surprise any more. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
