    Thankyou

Not yet looked through eaglelearners thread but will do thanx

    The cheques:
Well I rang halifax up to see if they can tell where a cheque was cashed to as on statements it just says cheque and value not who it was made out to or cashed by. They told me it was a £5 charge. I will recheck tomorrow as I'm not sure if they said after a certain time they charge the £5 if thats the case they may aswell get them traced now

They may have the parental address as it was on the contract which was one that had all of them on it. The landlord wouldnt sign contracts until they had 4 people in. I'm not sure if they have separate ones aswell though
    Thanx

It sounds like they have a joint tenancy and will have to resolve the problem between themselves.

    So:

    1. Pursue the tenant through SCC.
    2. Speak to the police, as it appears to be a case of fraud.

Did they know this guy before they moved in?

If this person is not a mate, then they need to get this resolved as soon as possible.

I would write (all othertennants together in a joint letter) to the lad at his parents address (by recorded delivery).

In the letter I would state all events, dates, cheque numbers, etc. and say that you are sure that there has been an oversight that he needs to resolve this issue by a given date.

If the oversight is not resolved by this given date then they will assume that this is not an oversight and actually a case of theft. You will then have no alternative but to report this theft to the Police, the landlord plus student services.

    See if that works :D

    TV License is easy one.

Give him a few days to provide proof that is been paid e.g. the license.

But got student days were annoying.

On a side note. Shared ownership mortgages that the HSBC are offering. Stay well clear - this is what happens!

I think the water question will be resolved fairly soon. The water company know that he is the person responsible, and they will be pursuing him for the full amount, including the arrears from the previous year. The other people in the house have paid him for their shares, so it is now between him and the water company. The OP might like to give the lad's home address to the water company to assist them with collecting the money.

More seriously, the OP's daughter should not have to live with someone who has effectively tried to swindle her. I suggest that she (or the OP) writes to the landlord explaining what has happened, and ask to be released from their contract early, or inviting the landlord to remove the lad.

Yes I thought about calling the police for advice and to see how much they could maybe help. I think the girls will prob give him at the most till after christmas to pay it as he should recieve the bill in his own name soon or he will have done already. He has gone missing the last few days, the elec bill has been split but he still hasnt paid his bit yet, when anythings owing hes off.

Rang water board again and still not paid, bill supposed to have been done on 5th in his name takes 48 hours to process so he prob has it by now. They have given me head office number and address.

They didnt know the guy before moving in no. They may try contacting his parents too just not sure what to do first it makes it more awkward being near Christmas and the others are at home.
    Thanx
