Problem with desktop :s

I have a sony vaio laptop. Since today when i tried to paste something or save something onto my desktop, it saved onto desktop (i was able to see it did get saved my clicking onto my computer), although cant really see on the desktop if you know what i mean?
Also cant used the right click button (only on desktop)
....
any ideas?

That's not really terribly clear I'm afraid - can you spell it out a bit more, step at a time, what you expect and what you get at each stage - it might trigger somebody's memory?0
