accident, sickness and unemployment cover

Options
Hi all,
We are soon to be switching from a two income to a one income family as my wife will be looking after our two young ones...
I've been looking at accident, sickness and unemployment insurance just in case something ever did happen whilst we are on a single income.
Does anyone know whether any policies include cover against getting the sack? Obviously I certainly don't intend to get in that sort of position, but I really would like to cover all bases if possible?

Thanks, Bill.

Not that I'm aware of. Involuntary unemployment, or by no fault of your own, are the usual phrases. Misconduct or similar is normally excluded.

Imagine the moral risk of being able to get yourself sacked then get an insurer to pay your mortgage and your bills for twelve months.

    Thanks for the reply Kingstreet,

I did think that it would be unlikely. However, I have found a policy from Columbus Direct which does not state dismissal as one of their exclusions.
Does anyone know/have any experience of this company/policy and whether all forms of unemployment are covered?

    Thanks, Bill

I've just looked through the policy documentation and it does indeed have no exclusion for misconduct or mention dismissal in any way.

The only issues specifically excluded appear to be resignation and voluntary redundancy.
