How about complaining to these people? They claim to be members.

Especially this bit seems like it might be an area they could be lacking : "Serious about accountability - Should you feel that any REC member does not uphold these standards, you have recourse through the REC complaints and disciplinary procedures which can lead to their expulsion and referral to the DTI for criminal investigation."0 -
I think you can safely assume that you haven't got the job, only advice i can give you is to keep searching for another job, i found this earlier in the year i was offered a job and had 3 interviews and trial with the company and they didn't have the courage to tell me that they didn't want me in the end.0

I have reported an agency to the REC......in a similar situation to OP, I had been told at interview I had the job, actually given a start date only to be told by the agency a few days later, that I had got "mixed up", and I hadnt got the job! It actually transpired that the agency had sent another candidate for interview after my job offer, and pressured the employer into taking them on as a "better candidate".
In reality the REC did very little, ruffled a few feathers at said agency but that was about it. I felt very agreaved regarding the situation, so didn't stop there, got the local papers involved, wrote to my MP....again it didnt get me the job, but made me feel better at the time! Fairly sure I am black balled from alot of agencies now though!!I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.Mae West

You should never rely on a job until you sign on the dotted line, even if you have an interview next week keep applying this week, all this time you have wasted and you could have been using it more constructively. Email them a complaint and forget about it, nothing will happen0
