skytalk line rental increase

got the letter this morning saying that the line rental is going up to 12.25 a month. So ive switched to the bt line rental saver tarriff with unlimited calls for 4.65 month which is free for 3 months and 25 cashback too !

sky 17.25 x 12 = 207
bt 14.65 x 12 = 175.80 - 25 cashback plus 3 months free = 136.85 or 11.40 a month with unlimited calls.
3.64KW system, aurora power one inverter, South west facing with no shading in Lancashire.

  • Looks like a good deal.
I'm pretty sure that sky also give you the option to pay your line rental up front for a year as well. I think it is the equivalent of about £9.25 per month.

So that would be £111 plus the fiver per month for the unlimited calls pack.
    bringing a total of £171.

the 3 months free and cashback are definitely a clincher though.

Amazing TV but the Broadband is not up to the standards I was expecting.
Could this price increase open a window for me to cancel the phone/broadband and switch?
I would def keep the TV service active but perhaps get BT+infinity.

Hello - I had the same letter this morning saying that the line rental was increasing and the principle of that is annoying considering I signed up to a 12 month contract. I wonder if they're actually allowed to do that if someone is tied in? Does anyone have any advice?

I'm in the same boat as you, Annielou.

I exercised my 'right to cancel' - which Sky tried to insist I didn't have until I read their own T&Cs out to them on the phone!

Nothing bad has happened yet - I'll sign up to BT's £10/month shortly.
