LOVEFILM to be AVOIDED

I was with screenselect some time ago and dropped them when I'd seen just abvout everything that was really important for me to see.
They weren't perfect but I notice that they did improve over time and their service was not brilliant but acceptable.

10 weeks ago I got an offer from Screen Select of 3 months for the price of one. Naturally I accepted and paid my £15 for 3 movies at a time

A short way into my new subscription I was notified that ScreenSelect was becoming LoveFilm.
Ok, no problem, surely that would mean more choice and a professional service

No such luck

The new service became slow and close to useless

I worked out that for each DVD I returned it takes on average one week to get a replacement
I have to keep topping up my list in order for a faster turnaround BUT my priority list appears to be constantly ignored. I only seem to get the less popular movies that I added for the sake of having sufficient quantity.
Probably if I hadn't added them I wouldnt get any at all or at least a much slower turnaround.


Most emails I send don't get a personal response. Usually a template response which ignores half of what I was complaining about.

The 0808 (freephone) contact number that SS offerred has gone for good and replaced by a non landline one. I have never called it but have heard that you can be put on hold for ages.

Emails are responded to with nothing but excuses
No compensation is offerred for their mistakes

They are obviously unconcerned about how their customers feel

I recommend that they should be AVOIDED

By all means go for their free trial BUT make sure you cancel in good tiime
with list emptied and all DVD's returned

They offer a 2 week free trial but if you enter code RAF96 you get 30 days

    i had some codes sent to me for like 1 months free rental, 2 months free rental etc, so i thought id cancel my lovefilm account or screenselect acc and use the vouchers, but for some reason the voucher codes didnt work so i emailed them but they didnt really answer the question

  • If you have a search there have been many complaints on this board and the warnings board for Lovefilm. Not 100% sure but arent they something to do with Tesco?
  • The Tesco DVD rental has recently been 'taken over' by LoveFilm. I have yet to notice that the service has got worse, and I am certainly happy with it.....so far!
    A search on the forums will show other threads with very unhappy people!
  • I have done a 2 month free trail with lovefilm, cancelled it at the end with no problems. They then sent me an email 3 months for the price of 1 which I jumped at. This is comming to an end soon, so I've cancelled tonight with no problems at all.
    When cancelling first remove everything from your rental list, then they can't send you any more.
    I've had over 50 dvd's from them in the space of 5 months, all for a total £12.99 (one months rental).
    I would certainly use them again, especially if they send me another 3 for 1 email (please lovefilm) :)
