British gas installations - any good?

Had a quote for a new boiler installation from British gas. Only had them round because they were the first ones to answer the phone as I worked my way down the list.
What I want to know is if anyone's had experience of their service, and is it good. Im certainly attracted to the fact that it can be paid in instalments, theres a years' free call out, and a free carbon monoxide monitor.

I'd wait till you've got some quotes from some local gas installers then factor in the years free callout /monitor and then equate what best deal is. Fair enough on the installments but you may be able to equal that with balance transfers etc. Only personal opinion but there quote for our gaswork was about 50% higher than what we went for in the end.0

Will let you know next week - BG due to install a new boiler on Tuesday...
As woby said, you need to compare with other quotes on a like for like basis - i.e. BG give you a new carbon monoxide detector worth I guess £40? + One years free 3 star cover worth £150 ish.
Taking these into account, BG will still be a couple of hundred quid more than a local plumber.
We managed to get a £400 discount, because our old boiler was covered by their 3 star contract, but broke down and they couldn't fix it because of a lack of spares. With this £400 off plus the benefits above, they just about broke even with local suppliers.
I guess the benefit is the fact that you have some come back with BG that you might not have with joe bloggs local plumber.0
