Sweetie table

I know a lot of you have had these so just after some general advice.
OH is quite against it, saying it is a waste of money. I would LOVE to have one though!
How much did you spend on yours for how many people?
How did it go down with guests?
Thanks!

not married yet- so cant tell you how its gone down yet :)

but i really wanted one- so i decided to make it myself- went to charity shops for the jars (very very cheap!) and ebay/shops for the sweets. its not expensive doing it that way at all

if you want it- have it :)

think about what time your wedding is- when to put out sweets etc

we are having a 4pm wedding- buffet about 7.30- and sweetie table will be availlable after that- so ppl can pick on it all night- and i am providing bags so they cna take them home too

That's what I was thinking. Wedding is at 1 (church) then wedding breakfast 4:30, evening do starting at 7:30 so was thinking of putting it out with the buffet. Have got a local bookers and a car boot every Sat near me so was thinking it wouldn't be too expensive?
    Thanks for your advice.

I bought lots of cheap glassware from charity shops for 50p-£4 Bought sweets from 99p store (popping candy!, sherbert straws, etc) got a huge tub of floral gums from bookers for about a tenner which was way to many really. Tub of jelly hearts 99p store again. We also had strawberry whips, some cheeky coffee bean chocolates as a joke hehehe and just little random bits i saw on offer. i doubt we spent more than £35 in total and the glassware should recoup what we paid for it. We had sweetie table instead of favours

you should fling a few packs of sweets into your shopping trolley every time you go shopping and then you wont have to go out and do it all at once (the your OH wont really see the expense)

i also vote for the charity shop glass ware idea, thats what we have done
  • These ideas are really helpful, as I have priced the sweetie buffet and it has come in at £175 - £275! Might give the homemade version a trial run..
