tips on finding last last minute holiday deals?

Is there a website or anywhere that gives a selection of last minute deals?
We have not booked this year as we were unsure of our finances and did not want to commit too early, anyway it is looking good and we are going to try and get a week at end of August, we are open to anywhere which is why the normal sites are awkward as they ask for destinations usually, its a bit easier for us this year as my eldest does not want to go, my middle dd is going with her friends so just me, hubby and our 8 year old

I have used lastminute.com - there you can put the destination as any beach and holiday and it will search for the cheapest holidays anywhere.
travel republic is also very good for holidays0 -

Perhaps look at where you can fly from your preferred airport by looking at the airports website and do a list of preferred destinations.
http://www.directholidays.co.uk/ don't require a destination.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Teletext normally do really good deals! Espec if you leave it totally last minute! Like pack your suitcase, book your hols from work and 1/2 days before go online and book your holiday! My mam does it all the time with my little brother and it also means he's not sat around ages waiting for the holiday - they're normally gone within 48hours of booking!
She's been to spain a few times all inclusive for a week for less than £150pp and she wont stay in less than a 3* hotel! - It just all depends whether you can take the 'risk' (although there doesnt seem to be much of a risk involved!):kisses2: 01.03.2014 - Marry the man of my dreams :kisses2:

I dont mind being packed and ready to go, and I have a 2 weeks window booked of work, would be interested to know if she has managed it in August too

My attitude is a bed will do lol as long as we can find some sun

Has she done it in high season such as August?
Yes she's done it in August aswell. Although she doesnt always use teletext. She searches as many websites as she can - It obviously does cost a little more in a month like August as its peak time for people to go on holiday but you'd definately still save compared to the prices you pay without booking last minute.
It may be August but there is still holidays that are cancelled and holidays that havent been sold.
If you have an open mind like you seem to have by saying you'll go anywhere with a bed and sun (just like me!) then i'd definately do it that way!:kisses2: 01.03.2014 - Marry the man of my dreams :kisses2:

Just be careful you don't take an "accomodation allocated on arrival" deal unless you are willing to accept pot luck.0

I booked a last minute deal for the first time this year with Travelrepublic and got an excellent price for a decent hotel. Not peak season but I usually get hit with a killer single supplement plus a supplement for flying from Scotland so was very happy with my deal. Was surprised (as it was separate flight and hotel) to get a rep at the hotel and he was really helpful!0

Last year a bloke my OH works with decided the last week of july that he wanted to go to greece for 2 wks during the August school holidays. My OH told me he had 1k max for 2 adults 1 child, I said he wouldnt find anything for that price that short notice, especially during the school holidays. He found a deal £900 total 2wks tsilivi zante that was with olympic holidays. I was really suprised, it was named accomodation with a pool, looked nice.
I think as long as you are happy to consider anywhere you will be fine. Check Travelzoo, Teletext holidays, thomas cook lates, first choice, thomson lates, co-operative travel, mercury direct, they all have last minute deal sections.
Also dont rule out popping into the travel agents, with all the details, leave your number and ask them to keep checking for you untill something comes up that looks good. A good travel agent will be happy to do this. I am looking myself for the first week July! goodluck.£100 - £10,0000 -
Hi,
I came across great daily holiday deal site called PostCardsFromTheBeach. They seem relatively new and are quite cute and quirky, but ...most importantly they've got some great offers. Might be worth a look?
I can't post a link as this is my first post on the forum :-( but you can find their website via their twitter page @BeachPostcards
Hope you find a great holiday.
