As well as getting bodyshop quotes, let a paint repairer like these below have a look and see if it can be done.

I had a long scratch from front to back repaired by these on my galaxy, but it does very much depend on the colour of car as some colours blend better than others as I say though is worth them having a look to see if they can help as it could save you pounds and on an older car that I'm sure is welcome.

Might have been worth talking to the developers. Mesh fencing if correctly installed is pretty much wind resistant.

cathy2702 do you have insurance protection on your car policy? or home policy?
i had a very similar type incident 2 years ago with a neighbours gate blowing onto my car causing over £1000 worth of damage,i was advised it was an act of god, i told my insurer to go for negligence in the fact that winds happen and the gate wasnt strong enough to withstand being blown off
i won my case just before it went to court
i hope you have taken lots of photographic evidence and if you have you need to speak to the developer straight away
you will get no teeth kicking from me,only the truth

op allready said her NCB is not protected.

i would try and get it done privately it should work out cheaper in the long run as suppose to losing a fair bit of cash in the short term going through the insurance, excess plus loss of ncb, and then a hike in premium in the long run.

some colours you just cant blend into a panel no matter how skilled the sprayer is, and a partial repsray is needed (half a car) and if thats the case the prep work involved is what your paying for, as theres no point in painting a scratched panel when theres trolly dents in it also. dont try and touch up the scratch then 2 three weeks later have it repainted, the new touch up paint will have to be isolated with barcoat or similar then after thats done its work, re prime, base and lacquer costing you more.

Atrixblue.-MFR i wasnt talking about no claims bonus protection i am talking about legal expenses insurance, this is where you get the benefit of men in suits working on your behalf who know how to word letters to the other party in such a way that the other party sees sense.
I always recommend it for car insurance and its only £15 a year extra, ive used it twice in the last 5 years for no blame accidents and recouped £5000 and no insurance excesses for me to pay.
My final party trick? i always recommend is to have a poundland camera in your car at all times and make sure you run all the film off of the incident,in this case the temporary fencing positioning and also the damage in relation to the car, insurance companies dont like these as they can be categoric evidence of blame

    Hi everyone,

I've got a few quotes, the cheapest is £600 and the most expensive is £1150 so am still trying to decide the best action for me

The fence was repaired on Thursday, I was wondering has it happened to someone else as the developeres haven't been out here in ages and wouldn't have known to fix it unless told, so I've no photo's or anything and did think it would be hard to prove.

If I go through my insurance I'm so aware they'll add it on come November when it's time for me to renew, so it's weighing up the cost and seeing if I can take the hit financially now or in November as they'll no doubt heap my insurance up by a huge amount.
