Medion Laptop - LCD & Warranty problem

After a bit of advice, please !
Bought my daughter a Medion laptop from Aldi, at the back end of last year. Had fair bit of usage in that time, as you can imagine, but when she booted up yesterday afternoon, she found had a problem with the LCD display.
About 6 areas on left hand side of screen, which look like they have had green ink stains. Rang Medion today, as have the 3 year warranty (reason for buying it in first place !) and they are claiming not covered as could only occur due to accidental damage. I disputed any accident had occurred, and asked for an example of such an accident, and was told applying pressure on the screen with her tongue !!! Told him that this was a ridiculous scenario, and that only reason she would have touched screen would have been to clean it. I've asked to escalate the complaint higher, and waiting for a call back.
Would imagine this is a fairly common problem, and would like some thoughts/advice on i) how to handle the complaint or if I'm going to be wasting my time & ii) best way to get it repaired if I need to do arrange it myself, and a rough guide to how much I can expect to pay !
Had a Medion desktop for last 3 years, and only couple of small issues, which they have been ok in sorting, so fairly disappointed and have certainly put me off buying from them in future. Is this fair, or is it a common problem from all manufacturers ??
Thanks in advance.

Can be caused by picking it up by the screen, leaving something on the keyboard and closing it, sitting on it, dropping etc. It depends what it looks like and where it is!!

If you have no luck getting Medion to sort it, try complaining to Aldi. I had a Gericom laptop purchased from Aldi, Gericom were useless when I tried to get it repaired under warrenty so I complained to Aldi and they paid for it to be repaired.0

Your contract is with Aldi since you bought it from them...0

Unfortunatlly LCD damage is rarely caused by manufactuering and more than likely damage caused by the consumer.
Leaving something inbetween the lid, opening it by one side, dropping or apply pressure on the screen or back of the screen,.
Same with any retailer.0 -
Many thanks to all that posted responses.
Never got the call back from Medion following my complaint, so took laptop back to Aldi branch, made a complaint to manager, and as a result got a call back within 24 hours. I followed this up with an email stating that I felt the goods sold were not of the quality expected, and sent them photos of the damaged LCD. Got call next day off Medion, then advising damage was due to a manufacturing fault, and therefore covered under warranty.
Laptop sent to Germany for repair, and all back & working again. No explanation on what damage actually was, or how it may have been caused, but result was exactly what I was after.0 -

Out of interest can you post up pics of what the damaged screen looked like?
Not come across 'green stains' before that I can recall.
But blotches/stains often indicate lcd leakage, which is almost always (but not always in some exceptionally rare cases) caused by user mistreatment.
But not sure about what you describe unless I can see them.
It would certainly be interesting to see, if a manufacturer/reseller has admitted its a manufacturing defect, just what they admitted to.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0
