Shure Replacement Warranty

Hello, nice forum btw. :) So, I have a (probably noobish) question:

Short version, tl;dr: Does the length of a 2 year limited warranty on a replacement item extend for 2 years from when the replacement was received? Or does the warranty just last for as long as is left from the date of the original purchase (of the item that was replaced)? The wording of this specific warranty is: 'two (2) years from the consumer's original date of purchase', with no mention of the case for replacements.

Long version: I originally bought a pair of Shure E310 earphones in march 2009. In jan 2010 the right channel suddenly went, the volume just disappeared. I sent them to Shure for repair/replacement under warranty, they sent me a new pair.

Now the replacement pair have the same fault (right channel dead). I emailed Shure to get an equivalent replacement (that model is discontinued), they asked for original purchase info but I sent them the details of the replacement order, including the order number so they could trace it in their records. They emailed back saying the items are out of warranty but they'll replace them as an act of good will, but with no further warranty.

Sorry for what might be a basic question, but I'm sure in the past I had warranties for other things last the full 2 years from when an item was replaced. Should they be giving me the full 2 year warranty on the (2nd) replacements, or am I in fact lucky they're replacing them at all?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You're lucky they're replacing them at all.

They have no obligation to replace them. Expecting them to include a new 2 year warranty is taking the mick.

This isn't gospel but as you only purchased them once then you get one warranty as teh exchange was through Shure.
If it had been a retailer that you took them back to and they did a swap at the till and you were issued a new receipt it would have been different.
