Santander's purchase of RBS / Natwest Branches

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any information of Santander's purchase of RBS / Natwest branches / business?

Is this deal limited to only Scottish Natwest Branches or would this also relate to England and Wales too?

Any updates would be appreciated - whilst I've heard favourable comments about Natwest - my experience as an Abbey customer was woefully poor  I'd hate to enter into a relationship with them any time soon.

Thank you.

Scottish Natwest branches and English RBS branches. Late next year is the most recent information I have.

Open an account with a proper bank and then move DD's etc yourself.

It looks like you have time to do it .

As ex English RBS customer I moved to a Scottish RBS branch with no problems at all.

Thanks for this - I am in the same situation myself and am thinking of doing the very same thing soon.

One question though - how do you pay in cheques if you are physically in England and your branch is in Scotland?

Currently you can do this either by post or via the post office. I also believe it is possible to pay in cheques via Nat West branches. RBS have said that they are investigating other possibilities.

Yes, it is. Maximum of £5000 (cash and/or cheques) per day & you need to have a preprinted credit slip (i.e. You can't use just your account details).

Currently I use the English RBS branch and they obviously accept cheques for Scottish branches.

Longer term I will use the post or if urgent get in my car as we are not far from the border.

You will be able to use Natwest branches for more than you can now.
