:hello: Hi all,I need some help here..
My eldest is a very quiet, studious type (thank the lord!!) this last week he was due to sit his mock gcse's but unfortunately the whole family went down one after the other with a bug so he missed some...
He mentioned the fact the school has bought some prizes for the boys to encourage them to hit their targets and he was in line for at least one of these but as he didn't complete enough tests he won't get anything now.He has studied hard since september to do well and always works so hard,he dotes on his younger brothers and is a carer to both along with myself and OH.He's not a 'trendy' kid doesn't ask to keep up with fashion etc but I know he would have loved an ipod or mobile phone if he could have won one but will never ask me for one..
Thanks to this site I just saved £150 on our car insurance (yes, plus quidco
) soooo I want to just give him a treat he so richly deserves and totally surprise him BUT...being a totally uncool Mum I haven't got a clue what phones are 'in' or what ipod is 'cool' :rotfl: so HELP!!!!! Anyone out there got any ideas please??? Thanks

Hi D&DD
My DD has asked for a Sony Ericsson W810i mobile as it is also a mp3 player as well, expensive though PAYG £160, I'm still thinking about this
, there are some good contract deals. I've bought younger DD a 4gb ipod, I bought it from boots went through quidco and with triple points and a discount code it came to £99, you have to buy a charger/speakers then as well as they don't come with a charger any more . Another deal is I think both comet or currys (always get these two muddled up) and tesco give you free speakers when you buy an ipod.

they did have some deals for ipods on the woolworths site and curry's if thats any help0
-
I believe if you buy an ipod from currys this weekend you get free speakers

I have just bought my DS 14 a 30gb Video Ipod for Christmas (£169 from Amazon-the cheapest I could find !). He has been after this for months and most of his friends are getting one too ,so must be cool !Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!0

In comet theres an 8gb ipod nano for £134 save £35
new thinner design with alumminium coating
upto 24 hours battery life
Ive just looked and its this weekend only0 -
The ipod nano's are nice. Mine is 4gb and plenty good enough, if you order off the apple site they do free delivery and free engraving.
And they have some great colours0 -
Ipod Shuffles are pretty cool, IMHO. Old ones were £25 at Argos, new version is £55. And cheap enough to get as well as a decent phone!OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

Without meaning to kick off any kinda apple vs anti-apple debate, you should have a look at the Creative range of MP3 players, they're generally better built, better value, sound better and play a better range of formats.
The Zen Vision M particularly is awesome if you can afford it. (165 on amazon)
Although, that said, they're not widely thought of as "trendy" in the same way the ipods are...and that's part of the appeal for a 15 yo I suppose...?0 -
I have got my DS the ipod nano 4gb in silver whichis new this Christmas. I just followed the instructions on this site to compare prices with the Shopbots, then try a cashback site, then paid with Amex Platinum card which gives 2% cashback. if you can't afford that try ebay or similar for 2nd hand models.earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0
