My Humax 9300T has the subtitle option set at auto, so that subtitles automatically appear when a programme has them.
It was fine till about 8pm tonight when the subtitles went off on all programmes (freeview).
I've looked at the menu and checked the subtitle option which is still set at auto. Could it be anything to do with the very windy weather we're having here tonight (45 mph winds)? Do the subtitles come via the aerial still?
Anyone know how I can get them back as I can't watch any TV without them?
Thanks

Have you ruled out your own equipment being at fault? Perhaps turn the Humax off and on at the wall plug.
If the problem persists, you could try reporting the fault through the BBC Transmitter Information service.
There is a specific option for reporting a subtitling fault. They want all your details, so if you haven't got a licence, maybe get someone else to complain.

Thanks asbokid. None of the channels have subtitles, even where (S) is shown in the listing. I didn't understand some parts of your reply though. What's the STB? How do I multiplex subtitles in? The setting says they are already on.
What's Arqiva's commercial datastreams?
I'll try unplugging and then turning on again.0 -
STB = set top box, the freeview decoder, the humax.
The subtitles are included as part of the digital TV signal (i.e. the multiplex datastream).
There is a good website for checking what channels you should be getting.. http://www.ukfree.tv/index.php
Enter your postcode into the "My Settings" textbox.
Then scroll down to see the TV reception map for your area, for the transmitter details. Those details might include recent fault reports. The details will also include information on the multiplexes that are available.
All of the BBC channels and the main ITV channels are transmitted on Freeview through the public service broadcast (PSB) multiplexes.
The 100% commercial trash channels are broadcast on multiplexes owned and operated by Arqiva. If you find that there are no subtitles on those channels broadcast on Arqiva's multiplexes then that would be very strange...
I would expect to find that all the multiplex operators (PSB, Arqiva and SDN) encode the subtitles in their datastreams at the point that they are uplinked from each of their broadcast centres.
So if there are no subtitles on the PSB channels, nor on the SDN channels nor the Arqiva channels, I would wager that the problem is with your home equipment.0 -
Hi
I would go into the menu and carry out a 'default setting'.
My 9150 has a habit of throwing a wobbly every now and again and this always clears any annoying little problems that have developed.

My humax can do some weird things occasionally. A turn off at the wall and turn back on again normally sorts things out."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
