Any costs near exchange time?

Looks like we should be exchanging soon
.
As it's all a new process, are there any payments we are likely to have to make between now and moving in? Obviously paid for searches etc; just got a niggling feeling that other charges may suddenly appear?

the big one will probably be the 10% deposit!0

That is such a huge question I don't know where to start!
You mean legal costs?
Mortgage costs?
Survey?
Moving costs?
Utilities?
Tax?
....?
....?
I suggest you nip down to the library and get a book on house-buying so you understand the process, the costs, the pitfalls etc.0 -
to your solicitor prior to exchange.
We are not at that point yet, but one of our early solicitors letters mentioned it & asked if we will have the funds to be able to pay it or if not what % we had available. I am surprised you have not been asked by your solicitor.0 -
Thanks for the reminders. Needless to say our solicitors are crap and I will be making a phone call tomorrow to ask for a breakdown of projected upcoming costs so we have a clear idea what we will be paying when.0

To summarise, our solicitor sent the costs through 2 days later and it all makes sense
Shame it didn't arrive way earlier; would have saved the embarrassment of looking like a plum on here!0
