Insulating new water tank

Hi all,

I have just had Solar Hot Water installed and have a new water tank in my loft. I was horrified to read that the heat loss was 2.1 Kilowatts per every 24 hours.

The kit is from a well-known company and the claim is that the insulation exceeds CheSS best practice - although that means nothing to me.

Two questions:

1) Is there anything for me to gain by buying a hot water tank jacket just to add some more insulation?

2) I assume that my heat loss will be greater because my tank is in the loft?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, but how good is the best cylinder you could have got? 1.6kWh?

I put old curtains and duvets around the cold water tank etc.
Dress in layers, as they say.
