Waste ink absorber

Options
I get a message "waste ink absorber almost full" on my Canon Pixma ip3000 printer. Anyone know how to deal with this.

" It's a dirty messy job best done on the driveway. "

Would be worth looking to see if anyone has posted anything about making and attaching a waste tank if the printer works well

I had to deal with this some while back. There are instructions on the web as well as videos, but I do agree it is very messy.

There is also a software reset procedure - but beware if too "full" may start leaking ink?

Have a look here or here for more.

If I recall, (no longer have the printer), you have to take care when taking it apart to avoid damaging the print heads.

I did mine on the kitchen table covered with many layers of newspaper. You will need a new kitchen roll too.

    Have fun!

    Regards,

    White.

As an owner of a Pixma ip3000 - can I ask how long the printer lasted before this message appeared ?

I'm bookmarking this thread and the videos in anticipation... :rotfl::rotfl:

Many thanks for this. The felt pads were sodden with ink. I dismantled the printer in front of the computer showing this video having put down plenty of dust sheets and newspaper. Printer is now re-assembled and is working.
    Most grateful.

Thank You for letting us know

I need to look at making ink tanks and connecting them by tube to my printers, though one would think that the first manufacturer who added removeable waste ink tanks would sell their printers more easily

But think of all the sales they'd lose when people replace a printer, rather than go through the mucky process of emptying the tank.:D
    Move along, nothing to see.
