i have a ford ka,witch recently lost power and stopped working,my local garage towed it to there workshop,they then rang me and said the sensors on the engine needed changing,so they changed the sensors. then they rang me again and said,we have changed the sensors but it still wont work!? oh by the way you owe us £300 for the work we have done. so i said how much did the parts cost? they said they couldnt remember! then they said you can come and get the car,its works but i wouldnt drive it!!!! what do i do now? pay for parts it didnt need,and its still not working.

If its not too late . Insist on an itemised bill, Pay by cheque and write paid under protest on it.
Sometimes it can be hard to trace faults and it can mean replacing more than 1 part to sort the problem.
This is when you find out if the garage it a decent one or not.
Even with modern cars and fault code readers its takes skill to decide if the part giving the fault code is at fault
or another item is causing it to run out of parameters.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
There are not many sensors on a Ka engine. They probably replaced the throttle Positioning sensor, the variable speed sensor and (if fitted) the head temperature sensor.
I had the TPS and the VSS replaced along with a coil (common failure on Ford engines - £25 part) and the crank case breather valve. Total bill £197 all-in.Never Knowingly Understood.
