Help with Car Insurance
Hi
Firstly apologies people if I have put this in the wrong place, but
I am hoping that somebody can help me, the OH had a car, which was due to go back to the finance company at the beginning of may, has he did not want to renew the finance agreement, he decided that he would purchase a used car himslef cash.
So me being me, did all the search's in order to get him the cheapest insurance, which i did, and purchased for him, using his debit card details and set up the direct debit. This was in March.
The Hp car has now gone back, and now he is left with his 2nd hand purchase, but me not realising that on his hp car, his insurance had the no claims bonus on, which is now cancelled and we no longer have the car,
So when i did the searches, i did it with the ncd, and now have since found out that, yes i know typical person trying to be helpful, but getting it wrong in the process, the 2nd hand car is asking for proof of this, which I provided, from the hp car, but that showed expirey as being may..
What is the best way to approach this, has it is my fault that i have made this mistake, has they are now asking for the complete diso!!!! back, which my OH is not happy with, has he would be, but because it was me, I feel that I should try to resolve the issue somehow, without getting him into trouble of any sorts..
Any help with this or advise would be appreciated..
thank you from a distressed Gizmo

but because it was me, I feel that I should try to resolve the issue somehow, without getting him into trouble of any sorts.......
You could pay it for him!
Alternatively, (assuming he now has the NCD available to him), you could price up what it will cost to cancel the present insurance (bearing in mind the cancellation charges plus the increase in premium to pay up to date of cancellation), and if worthwhile cancel the present policy and start again thereby being able to legitimately use the NCD.
Whatever you decide to do, don't get to the stage where your present company gets sick of waiting for the money and pulls the rug away and cancels your policy.
That will mean problems in getting a new company to take you on (all companies ask if you have had a policy cancelled, and few will quote you if you have).0 -
The insurance is not normally attached to the car its to the driver..
Contact the old company and cancel the old policy if you have not done so already. They may charge for this.
Ask for proof of no claims and then send that to the new company. They may want extra to cover the period when
the old policy was still running.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
