General Renovation Quote

I had a quote come in from a builder today. It's to modernise a new house that we've bought. The house is a five bedroom Victorian semi.

I know these are hard to answer without going through in detail, but I hoped that someone could tell me if these were in the right ballpark. I'd like the work to be at a good spec.

New living room cabinets and shelving in two rooms - £2,800
Convert existing fire to gas - £1,000
Remove chimney breast on two floors - £4,500
Remove small supporting wall in kitchen - £2,000
Remove kitchen back wall and install new doors - £2,800
Install kitchen (supplied separately) - £2,000
Kitchen electrics - £1,000
Plumbing for new bathroom (soil pipe, inspection chamber) - £1,100
New megaflow boiler, tank and installation - £4,500
Plumbing in new bathroom (inc new soil pipe, inspection chamber) - £3,000
Plumbing in new kitchen - £1,500
Redecoration - £6,000

Prices are ex VAT

Any help appreciated.

He's quoting London prices for the chimney breast removal. Does the price include new pasterboards and re-decoration or just removal of the breasts? How big are the breasts?

    HOW DARE YOU!?

    Oh... I see ;)

There's a chimney breast in the kitchen that currently houses an Aga. Above it is what will be the kitchen which has a smaller chimney breast. It will need to support the remainder of the chimney that's above it.
