Just a quick update ... my income has dropped 400 a month due to no overtime, so my overpayments have stopped while I build up my savings! I may make a £20 overpayment this month but not much more =(

Ooooohhhhh, second diary I've found tonight :). You're making great progress already, well done :T.
Just paid off another £900 =)
Just paid back £9.70!! =) Felt a bit silly ringing up to overpay by less than £10 but at least I now save interest on that!! Really want to get below the £120,000 this year of possible!! Time to update my signature too =P

Just to add also, the operator did laugh at me when I told him the small amount which made me feel a little embarrassed!!!
    Morning all,

Just about to look through my current account for any spare cash!! If I have any odd numbers ... (£2007.50 for example), I will overpay the amount that will make my account a round figure. I can't afford too much at the moment, but these little things always help =)

Ha ha ha, 3.gif, another [STRIKE]addict[/STRIKE] helper to assist in our devious plan to destroy bank profits ;)

As for the operator laughing....... well, what you paid is probably a couple of hours interest on his credit card so who's laughing now :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hi phelpsie - read your posts with interest. Similar goals to myself.
    Particularly interested in
    1) lifetime trackers
    2) ditching fix
    3) offsets
going to try and get more info on these.

In terms of reducing payments/reducing term I've opted for reducing term for the same reasons you outline above.
  • Well done Phelpsie. Good to see you attacking with some aggression; and it always encourages me to see other people overpaying, and keeps me focussed. I think your attitude is spot on, and a real encouragement!
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037
  • Just read your diary and then accidently logged into my internet banking and made a little £10 overpayment.

Survey wise I like 'my survey', I don't get screened out of them much and the topics can be quite interesting. I also use Toluna because you can get points for doing really quick sponsored polls so I do these when I can't be bothered to do a full survey. There are lots of free cash back things on top cash back like sim cards and car insurance quotes. I signed up for a love film free trial and got £15, cancelled before the end of the trial so £15 free money!!

I look forward to following your progress as you have similar debt to me.

    Good luck!

    Hi Phelpsie,

Sorry to hear about the overtime cut. You're doing grand though.

On the surveys, I have to admit to one Valued Opinions survey that paid out £45, I did screen myself in deliberately! I'll pay a penance for it one day but if anyone ever offers a rheumatism remedy recommended by Dr Billy (friendly neighbourhood G.P.), don't put too much faith in it...

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Hi Phelpsie,

I've just read your diary and it's great to see the progress you've made and all by yourself too!

All the best for cracking £120k - I'm hoping we can get into the 90's before the year is out.

    Well done :T
